In the Hand of God

Lately, my family has been facing some big challenges that seem to have no end. As a result, I have leaned heavily on two things in my spiritual walk that have upheld me and sustained me and kept me sane…

The first is the Bible. The only book that is alive. The only book through which God speaks directly and you never have to question, wonder, or work through whether it’s what He wants. The only book that gives clarity and direction straight from God when everything else is silent. The only book that is all truth, completely dependable, and penetrates to the soul.

The second is my history with the Lord. You see, God and I have a past together. He formed my very being. He came into my heart and changed my life. He has filled me with His Holy Spirit. He has comforted me when I was heart-broken, protected me when I was in danger, held my hand when I was scared, and directed me when I didn’t know where to go. The most amazing part is that through my entire life with Him I have always known the true – deep-down – can’t explain it – so grateful I have it – peace that comes only from walking with Him. My relationship with my Creator, Savior, and Friend is the most remarkable, most important, most dependable, most indescribable part of my life. Without Him I am nothing. With Him I have everything.

I am so glad that I am not floundering in the middle of my storm. I’m not panicked that the boat will sink or that I will lose my bearings. I am in the Almighty hand of God, as is my family, and that is the safest, most wonderful place to be.

Psalm 5:11
But let all who take refuge in You be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may rejoice in You.

2 Samuel 22:31
As for God, His way is perfect: The Lord’s word is flawless; He shields all who take refuge in Him.

Psalm 31:19
How abundant are the good things that You have stored up for those who fear You, that you bestow in the sight of all, on those who take refuge in You.

Psalm 62:8
Trust in Him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to Him, for God is our refuge.
