Welcome to Sandpiper Creatives!

I’m Kimberly Farmer, and I’m so glad you have stopped by! I hope you are finding ideas and inspiration here to help you as a parent on your homeschooling journey or to encourage you in your relationship with the Lord. My content on this site and on Facebook has been a long time in the making. It has culminated over a lifetime of loving Jesus, over 20 years in ministry, 23 years as a graphic designer and artist, 16 years of parenting, 10 years of homeschooling (plus 5 years as a homeschool student), and 9 years as a small business owner of Dreamleaf Design.

I’m a Kentucky girl, but I’ve spent my married life after college living in several different states. Now that I look back on it, I can say I’ve been and still am experiencing quite an adventure. The best part of it all has been my home and family. Life with Jesus and raising my children make my heart happy.

Like many of you, I was teaching my children from the very beginning of their lives, and learning, crafts, and exploration were part of our home. We decided to homeschool, because it was the right thing for our family – for a great number of reasons. So far, it has continued to be the best choice for us, and we are enjoying the journey each year. There are days when our learning achievements soar, and there are days when they leave a lot to be desired. There are times when I feel like I’m on top of the world, and there are times when I’m not so sure I’m going to make it to dinner time, but it’s worth the investment of time and energy!

You’ll notice that I use the pronoun “our” a lot. That’s because we are doing life and learning together, and we share in the joys and the pains. Our lives are like an amazing and intricate quilt with many patterns, textures, fine needle work, and patches. This quilt tells a story, and I hope our story reflects the Lord.

Why the name “Sandpiper Creatives,” you wonder? Sandpiper Creatives is a spin off the name of our home school – Sandpiper Academy. I chose this name when my kids were small, because it fit with our perspective and goals. Sandpipers live close to the ocean – close to the unknown and the great beyond, but they stay mostly on the safe shore. During these growing and developing years, we are preparing and training our children in a safe place for them to one day experience their own adventure.

During our school days, I enjoy mixing creativity and graphic design with whatever my children are learning. This often results in supplemental materials, educational helps, organizational charts, and ideas that I love passing along to you. I also post devotional type articles as the Lord places them on my heart. Thank you for your interest, and I pray you are blessed and strengthened through your time here.
