Worth Remembering
The other day, I was flipping through a photo album of special moments I have spent with family and friends. I thought of how sad it would be if I had never experienced those moments. There certainly would not be a photo album to thumb through and revisit those memories.
Our special times with Christ are collected in our being much like our experiences captured on film are collected in an album. Imagine your spiritual photo album. Imagine you are flipping through it. How empty or full is your album with special moments spent with God?
We can’t expect to fill our album if we do nothing. I would not have a snapshot of my vacation to Disney World if I never went to begin with. I would not have a snapshot of my wedding if I never said, “Yes, I’ll marry you!” I would not have a snapshot of my best friend if I never made an effort to be a friend.
In the same way, we cannot expect to experience great things with God, if we never do anything. We will not have a snapshot of that perfect moment when God gives us complete peace, if we do not trust Him. We will not have a snapshot of divine healing, if we never ask Him for it. We will not have a snapshot of the time when God touches our heart in a way we have never felt before, if we do not seek Him.
You may be able to save up a few snapshots in your album of special moments with God, because He just chose to bless you with with them – and those times are special. But if you want your album to be full of special moments spent with God, you have to take the first step.
God will not force His presence in your life, but if you invite Him to take part, He will never decline the offer. He is waiting for His child to climb up on His lap and spend some time. That is a memory worth remembering.
