Hearing the Cry

When you find out you’re having a baby, you immediately become incredibly interested in “baby things.” You start reading books, you start making lists, and all your conversations turn into question and answer sessions regarding the subject of babies. In general, you suddenly see the world through “pink and blue colored glasses.” Such was the case with me.

When Tim and I were deciding which items we wanted to register for, we put down baby monitors. Naturally, I wanted to make sure that I would hear my baby crying when it needed me. I was concerned specifically about hearing her cry when I was asleep and when I was in the opposite corner of the house – supposedly out of hearing range.

The fact is, I hear my baby crying without the help of monitors. Her cry can pierce through any wall that may be between us and through any stage of sleep that I may be experiencing on those rare ocassions when I go to dreamland. Yes, I most definitely hear my baby cry.

The Bible says in 2 Samuel 22:7, “In my distress I called to the Lord; I called out to my God. From His temple He heard my voice; my cry came to His ears.”

Just like I know my baby’s cry, God knows our cry. He hears us no matter how loud or muffled the sound, how close or how far away we are. And just like my quick response to Ava’s cry, God answers our cry. Isn’t it good to know that when we cry out to the Lord in distress, He hears us, and He cares. What a good God we serve!

Your articles are a blessing, inspiring and insightful. They are real, meaningful and dimentional. Your concepts are engaging, relavent and worthwhile. What you write is clear and developed so that reading what you write is like reading a picture–Actually, like watching a motion picture because what you say and how you say it has life and flow, and each sentence or thought keeps the reader moving/drawn to the next and deeper into the heart of what you’re saying. You take my thoughts and appreciations to levels they haven’t gone before. Thank you.
